The Railway changed hands in 2022 and has had a pleasant refurbishment after many years of being run by one of the towns local characters. As the name suggests it can be found near to the town's railway station; evening arrivals can produce a sudden surge as the tavern is the first port of call on way into town. The Tavern is essentially a single room establishment at the end of a terrace no larger than 2 rooms in a Victorian working class terraced house combined. The rear area has a cushioned settles, a TV showing sporting events, and a bookcase with reading material that can be borrowed. The front area of the pub consists of bar stools, a piano and one wall covered in pump clips. The makeover has given the Railway a brighter interior whist retaining its traditional feel. It also has an electroic time table showing train arrivals and departures, very handy for an extra pint if the train is delayed!
